Trivia: the Sax of Life

by Dan Naumovich - Copywriter/Journalist on September 13, 2010

I finally obtained the rights to the old Blog Free Springfield trivia series and I’m proud to introduce it here for the very first time.

This edition’s theme is the saxophone, for no particular reason. As always, Googling for answers is indicative of poor character. Don’t be that person.

Good luck.

1 – Wendy Beamish got weak in the knees watching Billy Hicks blow his saxophone in this movie.

2 – This sax-centric song was the only hit for the Sanford-Townsend Band.

3 – When Rindy Ross wasn’t singing, she played the saxophone for this 80s Top 40 favorite.

4 – This well-known saxophonist also dabbled in acting, having appeared in “Diff’rent Strokes,” “the Simpsons” and “Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure.”

5 – After committing 30 errors one season, this player was honored by having a syndrome named after him.

6 – What section of the orchestra will you find the saxophonists?

7 – Nicknamed “the Bird”, this saxophonist was considered one of the originators of the Bop style of jazz.

8 – Michael “Tunes” Antunes played sax for John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band, who performed the music in this movie about a rock and roll band.

9 – “Little Joe was blowin’ on the slide trombone.” Who played the tenor saxophone?

10 – “Yackety Sax” was released in 1963 and gained popularity when it was adopted by this British TV comedy.
